Our History

Leading radiation oncologist, Dr. Gregory Echt, began his practice in 1989 with a desire to provide North Texas cancer patients with world-class – and personalized – treatment. He opened his first clinic with a commitment to looking beyond the diagnosis and providing care that took the whole patient into account – from their overall health to their lifestyle – so that the care he provided was respectful of individual needs. This level of respect, combined with compassionate, supportive care within a state-of-the-art environment where an investment was made in the latest technology, defined the overall treatment philosophy of Dr. Echt and his treatment facility.

Over the years, Dr. Echt has built an outstanding reputation in the community as a physician who goes above and beyond for his patients. And, as his practice expanded, Dr. Echt brought on board physicians that share his passion for the highest level of care to cancer patients. Some of the most talented specialists in their field including Dr. Neeraja Dasari, Dr. Kiran Kancharla, and Dr. James Mackey joined with Dr. Echt to create a truly diverse team with rich experience in treating a variety of malignancies.

Today, the Choice Cancer Care team – including oncology certified nurses, physicists, radiation technologists, and dosimentrists – encompasses a variety of cancer care facilities including Southlake Oncology. The foundation on which Dr. Echt’s first practice was built – to provide cancer patients with access to the most sophisticated treatment available within an environment that is completely focused on their comfort and success – still exists today throughout all the Choice Cancer Care facilities.

Leadership Matters

The compassion and respect with which our patients are treated starts at the top. We are committed as a team to being at the forefront of cancer care, just as we are committed to being at the forefront of patient care. We consider it a privilege to work with our patients and their families and we do so with a focus on total patient care and comfort. That means creating individualized treatment plans that address the patient’s diagnosis as well as their personal needs. The only way to do this is to get to know our patients on a personal level. Approaching care from a personal relationship allows us to best counsel our patients on a plan that will work best for their life. Our patients have trusted us to provide them with the best care during a difficult time and we take this trust very seriously.

Whether you are facing breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, or any other malignancy, you will find the compassion and respect you deserve here at Southlake Oncology, as well as a team of cancer care professionals who are ready to lead you through treatment and on to better health.
